Wood Valorisation HUB extends heartfelt congratulations to Peetri-Jaan Lahtvee, a biotechnology researcher and tenured associate professor at Tallinn University of Technology, on being awarded the White Star IV Class Medal by the President of Estonia.

Peetri-Jaan Lahtvee himself expressed both surprise and gratitude upon receiving this prestigious recognition. “I don’t even know how to react right away. I thought I’d start considering such a possibility in four or five years, as I have plans for much bigger projects. Of course, this is positive and gives me an additional boost,” he shared.

In the coming years, Lahtvee aims to advance Estonia’s biotechnology sector through various initiatives significantly. “On one hand, we’re training new specialists and engineers at the university. On the other hand, we’re striving to influence the industry so that Estonia’s biotechnology sector can grow in parallel. The results will come in time,” he said.

Peetri-Jaan, your dedication, and vision inspire us all. Congratulations again on this well-deserved honor, and we look forward to seeing the remarkable advancements you will bring to Estonian biotechnology!
