Projects
Goal(s):
The goal of BIOFORM project was to introduce new targeted chemical modifications to biobased formulations and help to commercialize low-toxic biodegradable formulations.
Result(s):
The new products proposed: (1) POM / PLA composites made by the melt extrusion process and well suited as a coating material for the hospital environment; (2) nanoemulsions of essential oils that characterized by controlled loading; (3) lignin-based materials as gels with potential antiviral and antibacterial properties.

Goal(s):
The project was divided into the given subtopics: fractionation of wood pulp, analytical chemistry of wood polymers, functional materials from lignin, and studies of biomass-degrading enzymes from extremophilic organisms.
Result(s):
A subtask devoted to functional materials from lignin was accompished by Y. Karpichev’with development of a novel greener protocol of chloromethylation of organisolv and technical lignin. Based on the chlotomethylated lignin as a precursort, a series of functional materials was proposed. A flow reaction cartridge was prepared for cleaner and smarter manufacturing processes, in essence.
